We Moved To Spain

Hi, I’m Amy. I’m 34 years old with a husband and two kids, Sydney 9 and Ensor 4. We lived in Roswell, Georgia USA and we just moved to Barcelona, Spain.

Do we speak Spainsh….No

Do we know anyone in Spain….No

um….why then.

That’s usually the response we got when we told our friends and family we were moving.

I understand.

We were a whole family living a pretty suburban life in a very safe and beautiful neighborhood in the USA. Many people questioned why we would want to pick up and leave that existence. Didn’t we like it? Weren’t we happy?

Yes, we were happy.

Yes, we loved it.

After 10 years living the suburban American life, we were looking for something else, a different life experience for ourselves and our kids.

People get bored in life. Bored of the same routine, the same existence.

For some, they take up hobbies, we decided to move to another country, lol.

We did it now because our kids are relatively young and they are at a stage where they can learn a new language fairly easily. Plus, they’re not as anchored in a place being young vs if they were in high school.

Plus, we were all healthy and we had the means. Sometimes, you have to just go for it, so that’s what we did.

We choose Spain, because we like Europe and Spain had some of the best weather. We choose Barcelona, because it is gorgeous and is international cosmopolitan city.

So, in January 2016, we decided to move to Barcelona, Spain by end of my daughter’s school year (May 2016). It started out as a scouting mission, but we said, hey why not. It’s easy to put things off until next week, next month, next year. We didn’t want to put the move off and end up not doing it.

So, through the fear, and excitement, we planned our move to Barcelona, Spain.

We had apx. 90 days to make it happen.

Follow my posts to see how we did it and where we are now.
